Hex: What and why?

A new episode of 'Digital Forensics Essentials' has just landed and taking centre stage this time is ‘hex’.

In digital forensics, when it comes to examining raw data, when all else fails, a ‘hex viewer’ is your default tool. But have you ever stopped to think about why it’s a hex viewer?

Principal Analyst Alex Caithness has, so have a watch and follow along as he explores the fundamentals of how computers think about numbers and the relationship between decimal, binary and hexadecimal.

Don’t forget there’s a handy cheat sheet to accompany every vlog in the series - you can download this episode’s here.
